Gary Danko Reservations

Below is a review of Restaurant Gary Danko;

Called over a month in advance and could not get a dinner reservation earlier than 9:30 PM. We did not want to eat that late so we went early,(arrived before 5 pm), and were the first in line for the open bar-area seating. We sat at the end with a large pillar in front of me. If the food and service was not so great I would have been annoyed. However,I felt lucky to be there enjoying a great meal. I planned to have the 5 course meal and my wife the 3 course. I could only make it through 4 courses. The great scheme is that one could order any combination you wish from the extensive selection. I started with the foie gras and my wife with the lobster salad. I then had the branzini followed by the venison. Each preparation was exquisite. My food was so great that I cannot remember what other selections my wife had. We finished with the cheese selection. Everything offered was nicely prepared and served elegantly. All at the bar. Wine and drink menu is extensive and all spectrums of wine types and prices were represented. Could come here for dinner every night if the price was of no concern. Dinner tab over $300. Like New York, but better.

Gary Danko Michelin

The elite meet to eat at this throwback favorite, which has been hosting the crème de la crème of the city (and its visitors) since the 90s. Set near Ghirardelli Square in Fisherman’s Wharf, it features two lovely wood-paneled dining rooms and a small, bustling bar, all of them regularly full of hobnobbing business types and couples celebrating big occasions. With bursting flower arrangements, attentive servers and well-dressed diners everywhere you look, it’s hard not to be captivated. The menu focuses on classic cuisine with some global twists; diners can create their own three- four- or five-course prix-fixe, or hand over the reins to the chef’s tasting menu. Luxurious dishes include a luscious rock shrimp and Dungeness crab risotto, accented with butternut squash; branzino with fennel purée, olives, and a saffron-orange emulsion; as well as a perfectly cooked herb-crusted lamb loin, draped over date-studded farro and rainbow carrots. While Danko may not be on the cutting-edge of fine dining, its top-notch wine list and outstanding service epitomize old-school luxury. Like the chocolate soufflé with vanilla bean crème anglaise that caps the meal, this is a classic for a reason.

Gary Danko Dress Code

The dress code at Restaurant Gary Danko requests decent attire. Jackets or suits are appropriate for men, while trousers, skirts and dresses are just fine for women. Moreover, dinner reservations can be made up to two months in advance. There is no dress code but that being said, people do dress up on the trendy side for this fabulous experience.
